Actor/filmmaker, Ivan Rogers (shown here in a black blazer, sunglasses, and shaved head) purchased this polished solid black granite monument that stands six feet in height, ten inches thick, and thirty-six inches wide. It is dedicated to the memory of torture-slaying victim, Sylvia Likens (1949-1965) who was only 16 years of age at the time of her death. Because of the heinous nature of this crime, it received international recognition. Ivan also wrote the verse inscribed on the front of the monument which comes from his book entitled, "My Life's Impressions" ISBN: 1-4241-8864-4. In a ceremony that took place at 10:00am ET on Friday, June 22, 2001, at Willard Park, 1900 East Washington Street in Indianapolis, Indiana, Ivan presented the monument to the world. Among those present were Clergymen and law enforcement officials from all over the US Here we see Ivan Rogers, his wife Susan Rogers, Dianna Likens Bedwell (Sylvia's sister), and her husband, Paul Bedwell. Dianna and Paul were flown in from Yucca Valley, California for the ceremony. We also see in this footage (far screen right at 5:03 and left screen at 6:06) Jenny Likens (sunglasses floral top), Sylvia's sister who was present in Gertrude Baniszewski's home throught the torture and slaying of Sylvia.
